About

A2 Fabrication was founded in 1996 by Gale Schmidt. Originally called Access Ability, the company specialized in making and installing modular wheelchair ramps for people with disabilities. The company transitioned out of ramps and into ornamental metals (railings, fences, gates) in 2001 and changed the name to A2 Fabrication. In 2002 A2 Fabrication landed its first major contract to build and install railings for Portland’s Interstate Line Light Rail expansion. Since then, A2 Fabrication has worked on many public works projects as well as commercial construction and highway projects. The company has received several awards from the National Ornamental and Miscellaneous Metals Association for aesthetic and technical achievement. After 24 years, owner, Gale Schmidt decided to retire and hand the reins over to new owner, Chris Mote. Chris is committed to carrying on the tradition of quality and service and wants to see the company continue to grow. 
